Dr. Carrie Stefaniak, DVM
Small Animal Doctor
Dr. Carrie grew up on a Holstein dairy farm in Northeastern Wisconsin and although she loves cows, she always dreamed of being a small animal veterinarian. After graduation from the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine in 1999, she practiced as an emergency & critical care veterinarian within a specialty practice for nearly 25 years. After recently moving to the Driftless area, Dr. Carrie joined the companion animal team at Sunrise in spring of 2024.
Her areas of interest include urgent care and emergency cases, pharmacology, neurological conditions and medical ethics. Dr. Carrie is especially passionate about the care and welfare of brachycephalic (short-faced) dogs including French Bulldogs, Pugs and Bulldogs. She is active in local and national French Bulldog clubs. At home, she participates in agility and scent work with her two French Bulldogs, Kevin and Penny. Dr. Carrie and her husband (a retired emergency veterinarian) also share their home with a Llewellin Setter, named Parker.
Away from work, their family enjoys all aspects of Driftless area life, especially gardening, hiking, distance running and canoeing the Kickapoo river. When not outdoors, she spends time reading, attending dog shows and agility classes, and cooking or baking.
Dr. Carrie is very excited to join the Sunrise team and she looks forward to fostering the mission of Sunrise Veterinary Services by providing compassionate care to pets within the community.
